Children Of The Bewlay Brothers
Acclaimed Art Pop Duo Raf and O present:
CHILDREN OF THE BEWLAY BROTHERS
(TO DAVID BOWIE WITH LOVE)
THE SHOW
David Bowie has always been a massive inspiration to Raf and O. Since performing their unique version of Lady Grinning Soul praised by Mike Garson in the early 2010s, the duo have perfomed in prestigious venues such as The Queen Elizabeth Hall and The Union Chapel and in theatres and halls around England to great acclaim. When the pandemic struck they committed to a year of online shows (featured on The Metro’s newspaper amongst the best online) performing their own songs, the songs of Kate Bush and in November 2020 they launched a show, ‘Children Of The Bewlay Brothers’, their alter-ego, the show is steeped in theatrical tradition and the pair immerse themselves in renditions and interpretations entirely dedicated to David’s songs live on The Tour Online. Their performance of ’The Man Who Sold The World’ a live video shared from the launch captured the attention of the press. The show has continued to delight the fans online and Raf and O are now looking forward to hit the road with it!

DAVID BOWIE
IN THE WORLD OF RAF AND O
Hailed for their unique and compelling dramatic art pop, South-East London duo Raf and O, are inextricably linked to David Bowie. Their career includes four acclaimed albums to date and various musical explorations, they celebrated Bowie live on prestigious occasions including Starman at the Union Chapel in January 2016 and the remake of the Beckenham Free Festival. They were also quoted in Mary Finnigan‘s book, Psychedelic Suburbia, have released interpretations of his songs, featured on David Bowie Official, received praise by Mike Garson for their unique interpretation of Lady Grinning Soul and they have dedicated an original song to him on their last album ‘The Space Between Nothing And Desire’, the highly praised ‘A Bow To Bowie’. Raf said in an interview with Pennyblackmusic: ” David concocted the element of surprise and excitement, which I crave in music and then served it on a stage through performance, drama, allure and damn good singing”. In June 2021 Raf and O share a live video of a new song which will be part of their next album, inspired by The Man Who Fell To Earth, the 1976 science fiction film directed by Nicolas Roeg starring David Bowie in the role of Thomas Jerome Newton and Candy Clark in the one of Mary-Lou. ‘Tommy Newton’ (hear it and watch it HERE) is the name of the track, a love song Raf has written from the perspective of Mary-Lou saying: “It’s sad, yearning and reflective, she’s talking to Tommy, but it’s really happening in her mind, she’s talking to herself and she’s talking to us. I loved the film all my life, just as I’ve loved Bowie”. Already garnering a splendid reception’ the song has been described as intoxicating, reflective, artistic, dramatic, spellbinding and sublime.
“‘A Bow To Bowie’ an enthralling tribute to one of Raf & O’s main inspirations. The intensity is off the scale.”

“The album takes a lovely turn with a cover of David Bowie’s ‘Lady Grinning Soul’ from Aladdin Sane, a theme song for an imaginary Bond movie, whose warm, analogue synth waves remind of Brian Eno circa Before And After Science”

“Most impressive were Raf and O, a talented avant-garde duo influenced by David Bowie but no copycat”
